GROUP OF KIDS FROM OUR ST. VINCENT TRIP

CAMP ITINERARY

We begin camp at 10am every day with a mindful practice of tai chi, yoga, meditation, or partner work. After this, the coaches lead various land and sea drills according to sailor skill levels.

BASICS OF SAILING

For beginners, this includes the basics of sailing concepts, wind and water safety, as well as learning how to “rig” the sailboats to start. Partner islands provide a substantial and healthy lunch, and in the afternoons we begin working with older sailors and potential coaches. We end the day by packing the sailboats away before the sun sets on the beautiful Caribbean horizon.

For our more advanced “clinics”, our staff of highly trained professional sailors and coaches work with clubs and programs already invested in racing to develop their sailors technical and mental sailing skills. In addition to on-site training, Bow Sailing is continuously coaching these clubs and sailors at various international regattas throughout the Caribbean and abroad.

SAILING CAMPS IN 2017

WEEKLY OBJECTIVES

Introduction to sailing, sailing equipment, terminology, team games and sailing!

All sailors will go from beginners to feeling comfortable on the ocean and in control of a tiller. Many will begin racing training and advanced terminology.

Sailors will leave with a tool box of mindfulness skills, from basic yoga and tai chi, to meditations that they can use in their day to day life as well as on the water.

Throughout the week sailors come together for team games and races to achieve certain goals while displaying their newly learned sailing skills. From full on races to scrambling on the beach, these days are filled with tons of laughter and friendly competition.

It is our mission to continue coaching the invested sailors of each island we work with, as well as expand to new islands throughout the Caribbean.
